Last week I put two huge, and long awaited, makeup orders through on Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay.
It was my birthday at the end of last month and instead of gifts I received money from many of my family and friends.
My original intentions was to put the money in my ISA to save for a rainy day, but me being me, I couldn’t resist, especially when there was 30% off, I mean who couldn’t resist that!
Cult Beauty Products
So first things first, I have always wanted to purchase a Anastasia palette but I have never been brave enough to rock the colours in previous palettes they’ve released as I’m more of a neutral gal so when I saw they were releasing the Soft Glam palette, I knew it was the one for me!
I had seen a lot of people raving about this palette and when I looked at it I knew I would use every single colour in the palette, so I couldn’t wait much longer and had to buy it.
I actually used this palette when I went out last night and I’m already in love with it, people have said how nicely the shadows blend out and I was actually shocked at how easy they are to work with.
From Anastasia, I also bought a 3-in-1 Pencil Sharpener as my old one had broken, the actual sharpener had fallen out and I couldn’t find it.
Next up is a repurchase and it is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter.
I first tried this last year in a collection I bought from Becca and I totally fell in love with it, it was a very sad time when I had finished it all so was in desperate need of another one.
I love the way it makes my skin feel and it has worked so well with every foundation I’ve tried it with.
It was time for me to throw my old beautyblender out as it had seen better days so a new one was added to my cart.
I don’t know what I ever did without a beautyblender because it makes foundation application so easy and makes it looks flawless.
I’ve tried other brands makeup sponges but nothing compares to the original beautyblender.
I first heard about this next product because I had seen online somewhere that Holly Willoughby uses a foundation from this brand and her skin always looks amazing, and you cannot argue with the price of this product.
This is the Coverage Foundation from a brand called The Ordinary; I had only heard about their skin care products before and when I heard they did foundation, I was curious.
I have very fair skin with pink undertones and when I was looking at their shade range, what I liked immediately is that with each shade they have different colour undertones and that is something I had never seen before.
When I go foundation shopping, I always know that I’m going to need the lightest shade, usually porcelain, however, a lot of these shades have a pink undertone to them and I prefer to conceal the pinkness and this foundation gave me the option to choose what undertone I wanted whilst still being the lightest shade.
I did also buy a darker shade as summer will soon be here and in the unlikeliest situation I get a tan, I’m prepared with a slightly darker shade anyway.
The shades I purchased were 1.0N Very Fair/Neutral and 1.2N Light/Neutral.
Next up are two products from Charlotte Tilbury, I’ve only ever bought two products before and I absolutely love them and I’ve been wanting to try some of her lipsticks for a while so I jumped at the opportunity to get one when putting this order through.
I picked up her iconic shade Pillowtalk from the Matte Revolution collection and also purchased the matching Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillowtalk too.
I’m normally very careful of matte lipsticks because some formulas are very drying on my lips, however, I tried this out last night too and the formula is a dream.
It doesn’t feel like your usual matte lipstick, it is so comfortable and creamy on the lips and it stayed on perfectly throughout the evening.
Beauty Bay Products
I’ve never tried brushes by Morphe or Zoeva so I decided it was time to give them a try.
By Zoeva I got the 101 Luxe Face Definer, 102 Silk Finish and the 105 Luxe Highlight, I am most excited for the highlighting brush as I’ve only ever used a fan brush from Eco Tools for highlighting.
I only got one from Morphe and that is the M330 brush, which is a blending crease brush, because you can never have enough blending brushes.
When I opened them I couldn’t believe how soft they all are, I’ve never felt brushes like it.
This next product is something I’ve only recently heard of and I’ve never tried anything from the brand before.
It is the Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder; I usually use the Laura Mercier Setting Powder but I’ve heard people rave about the Cover FX one and decided to try something new.
The powder comes in two shades, Light and Deep, but is said to leave a translucent finish on the skin.
The final product I have purchased, which I actually bought from the Benefit counter in my local Boots store, is the Benefit Brightening Concealer.
A few years back I used to be obsessed with Benefit makeup, I loved their packaging and everything I tried worked so well for me, however, I tried a new product one day and my skin reacted really badly with it and since then I’ve never tried anything else, however, I do occasionally use the products that I know work on my skin.
This product was an impulse buy so I’m hoping it will work out, I didn’t do any research into it so I have no idea how it has worked for other people but I guess I’ll soon find out.
So that is everything from my well-needed makeup buying splurge, I can’t remember the last time I had bought any makeup before this, and I can’t wait to try out all of these new products and get back to using some old favourites.
